Eileen Gray
[Poster Design, 2019]
Project focus:
Design a 24"x 30" poster of a lecture event for an architect.

Abstraction study, combined with the architect's style and works.
Who is Eileen Gray?
Eileen Gray was an architect who designed furniture like chairs, tables, sofas, lamps, and rugs. Her style was multi-functional and omnidirectional, and much of her furniture had a curvy feature, simple but innovative.

Design approach:
The inspiration of the poster content was taken from a table she designed and I divided it into different rectangular shapes to make it abstract but still recognizable as the style of her work.
Apart from all the sharp shapes, I added two curvy lines that were inspired by her unique lamp design to balance the whole design and add a sense of motion.
My color palette was taken from two of the rugs she designed. For the typography, I used a clean sans serif font for the event information and a handwriting style for the architect's name to support and enhance the curvy feature in the poster.
