Heaven of Foodies: Taiwanese Food Map

Project focus:
Design a 24"x 36" mapping graphic system poster that serves as a tool for the identification and navigation of the selected subject area.
The project's focus was to introduce and promote Taiwan, the cities, and especially Taiwanese food.
What is Taiwan?
Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is a country in East Asia. It shares maritime borders with China to the northwest, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south.
Taiwan is my home country, which is the reason I chose to focus on it. I wanted to introduce this beautiful country and different kinds of special local food as how they play a big role in my life.
Design approach:
As a person who loves to eat, I wanted to lean into the topic of introducing Taiwan with food, and then introduce their connection to each city/county all around Taiwan.

This design combined the idea of the travel journal and push-pin travel map. Twelve cities were selected and paired with their famous local food. The push-pins are incorporated with the illustration of Taiwan's national flower, the plum blossom. The typeface choice was a handwriting font to create the feeling of journaling.
